Medication Management
Cortes Counseling is proud to be working alongside APRNs who offer medication evaluation and management services to our clients. While staying connected with their trusted medication management provider in collaboration at Cortes Counseling, clients have the opportunity to meet over telehealth or in person with a highly trained APRN. Their specialties include ADHD, depression, mood and personality disorders, and anxiety, for children, teens, and adults. Similar to general therapy, the Medication Management program accepts all major insurances including Husky.
Dr. Nelson Leach
DNP, APRN, PMHNP-BC, FNP-BC
Dr. Nelson Leach is a dual board-certified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner and family nurse practitioner. He completed his advanced nursing degrees at Duke University and Fairfield University. Dr. Leach’s passion for helping others developed during an Eagle Scout project, collecting essential items for nursing home residents. This desire led him to a nursing career, where he worked for almost two decades.
Experience
One of his proudest accomplishments was participating in a medical mission to the Philippines to provide pro bono surgical care for locals. Dr. Leach realized the importance of mental health awareness while working with our nation’s heroes at the Veterans Affairs Hospital. He further honed his mental health skills in rehabilitation centers and skilled nursing facilities throughout Connecticut.
Outside the Office
Originally a Utah native, Dr. Leach resides in southern Connecticut with his partner, Sean, and two cats, Si and Bali. During his free time, he enjoys playing tennis, watching comedies, and taking day trips to New York City.
